When an interface already works but users do not reach the target actions, get lost in the navigation or contact support often, a UX audit is needed. It is also appropriate before a redesign, a client portal modernisation, the launch of new functionality or a migration to another platform. The audit records problems through an analysis of scenarios, page structure and interaction points, rather than through visual assumptions.
The audit examines the key user scenarios, the navigation logic, the structure of the screens, the forms, calls to action, error messages and interface states. Conversion points are checked separately: enquiries, registration, checkout, quote requests, subscriptions or other target actions. Where relevant we assess basic accessibility: contrast, readability, focus states, the clarity of controls and responsiveness.
The result is a structured report with the problems found, their priority and recommendations for fixing them. The team gets specifics rather than general remarks along the lines of improve the UX: which screen, which scenario, which problem and which possible solution. That helps the product manager, designer or product team build a backlog and make decisions before a redesign or development.
The work starts with a short immersion in the product: the goals of the interface, the key user roles, the main scenarios and the available analytics. Then comes an expert analysis of the interface, a check of the scenarios, an assessment of the page structure and a comparison of the expected logic with how the system actually behaves. Where analytics, heatmaps or session recordings are available, they are used to confirm hypotheses and prioritise problems.
After the audit you can move on to UX prototyping, a redesign of individual screens or a full interface update. The recommendations can serve as the basis for a specification, a design system or a development roadmap. For complex products the audit can be the first stage before deeper discovery, user interviews or the design of a new interface architecture.
